Ping
Measures the round-trip time it takes for data to travel from your device to the server and back.
ms
High ping (>200 ms) may indicate a slower connection and can lead to delays and lags during your online class. Please ensure you have a stable and fast internet connection. Unstable ping (fluctuations in ping result) can cause audio-video disruptions, synchronization issues, increased latency, and collaboration disruptions.
Close bandwidth-consuming apps or downloads running in the background. Consider switching to a wired Ethernet connection. Contact your internet service provider (ISP) to address any potential issues.
Jitter
Measures the stability of your network connection.
ms
Jitter refers to the variation in delay between data packets. It measures the stability of your network connection. High jitter (>30) can cause disruptions in real-time communication, resulting in audio or video or screen share quality issues during your online class. Ensure a stable network connection for a smooth experience.
Minimize wireless interference by moving closer to your Wi-Fi router. Avoid simultaneous bandwidth-heavy activities during your online class. Contact your ISP if the issue persists for further assistance.
Download
Measures the speed at which data can be received from other participants to you.
The download rate (<10) measures the speed at which data can be received from other participants to you. A low download rate can lead to buffering, pixelation, or interrupted audio/video during your online class. Ensure a fast and reliable internet connection for a seamless experience.
Check your internet plan, consider upgrading to a higher speed if necessary. Disconnect other devices from the network to free up bandwidth. Pause any ongoing downloads or streaming activities during your online class.
Upload
Measures the speed at which data can be received from other participants to you.
The upload rate measures the speed at which data can be sent from you to the other participants in the class A low upload rate (<10) can affect your ability to transmit audio or video effectively during your online class. A low upload rate (<10) also affects the screen sharing quality, annotations, activities...
Ensure that your internet plan provides sufficient upload speed. Limit simultaneous uploads or cloud backups running in the background. If using Wi-Fi, ensure a strong and stable connection by minimizing interference.

Note: Device and Hardware Considerations

Before joining the online class, it is important to ensure that your device also meets the following requirements: Keep at least 1GB of RAM available to ensure optimal performance during the class. Close any unnecessary applications or processes running in the background to free up system resources and improve performance.
